The blue/green roving and yarn in the pictures,
above and below, are both natural white and
grey Corriedale blended with dyed very soft
de-haired Llama. I dyed it up and sent it off
the the people at Wooly Knob Fiber in Indiana
and it came back just great! Wonderful
spinning and beautiful yarn as a result.
I love color!
The yarn in the picture above is grey Corriedale and
white Corriedale. 2 ply and then dyed together in
BlueMoon Kool-Aid.
Spinning yarn with the spinning wheels is almost like
meditating. The gentle humming of the wheel and the
feel of the fiber turning into yarn under your fingers has
a way of calming even the most distressed heart and
soul. Spinning yarn isn't just about the finished product,
really great yarn to knit and weave with. It's more about
the process of how it's produced. From shearing the
ladies each spring to skirting the dirty fleece, washing it
yourself if you have a mind to, or sending it off to the
woolen mill. Then there's the choices of dyeing it or
spinning it the way it is. Creating something that is
pleasing to the eye and satisfying to the soul.
Handspun yarn has that special feel you can't get from manufactured yarns........

This yarn was spun from some fiber
that was given to my by the folks at
Wooly Knob Fiber Mill. They called it
"floor sweepings." What fun!
